:: COURSE DESCRIPTION

-> First semester :

The first semester is dedicated to the acquisition of techniques essential to studio shooting and to the treatment of film and digital images.
At the beginning of the program, during 10 weekly classes of 3 hours each, students are initiated to the Stop-System, to the different types of lighting, to the general principles of light sources balance as well as the different types of cameras, from 35mm to the large format.

These sessions aim at immersing the students in the universe of the professional studio and at familiarizing them with the notions of work streams and post-production.

Photographie en Studio

From the 11th week, an introduction to photography styling will allow the students to complete their education by approaching the techniques of image composition and by learning about the visual codes essential for an efficient communication.

The presence of a photo stylist introduces another aspect of the studio: team work.
Students work in close collaboration with the photography teacher- styling teacher duo in order to find the light and the composition that will best serve the subject.

Light work gets richer and more precise through the experimentations run with objects: their nature, their texture, their degree of light reflection and their position in space. Here are some examples of subjects whose special treatment is dealt with in the first semester: metal, glass, transparences, reflections, incandescence.

The aim of the first semester is to enlarge and consolidate the field of knowledge of the students to allow them to go further and to develop a creative process.

-> Second semester :

From that point, the weekly sessions simulate a professional production in the form of a 6-hour day of work.
Different themes with specific technical constraints will be dealt with in order to perfect the knowledge acquired in the first semester.

Emphasis is put on the notion of team work with a close relationship with the styling module, which brings up the themes, invites young designers and opens up the studio activities to the outside world.
Both students and young designers gain from these exchanges around the production of design, fashion and jewelry photos...

These favorable exchanges offer a continuously renewed subject matter to work with, allowing the students to get used to the constraints of commissioned work, production and visual identity and to simulate professional photography team with for example: a designer, a model, a make-up artist, a hair-dresser, a photographer, an artistic director, a photo stylist.

During the whole semester, to complete the teaching, there will be interventions by different actors of the professional world, in the form of conferences.
